Goolang Creek Remediation

NAME: Goolang Creek Remediation

CLIENT: NSW Soil Conservation Service

SCOPE: Plant Hire (7t, 12t zero swing excavators)

TIME FRAME: January – April 2014

In January 2014 the NSW Soil Conservation Service (SCS) was engaged by Essential Energy to repair and rehabilitate the severely eroded Goolang Creek and a white-water canoe course after the failure of tunnel 2 at the Nymboida Hydroelectric Power Station.

The work was carried out in Nymboida, located 44km south-west of Grafton, and included clearing debris from the landscape, providing an environmental flow bypass, recovering deposited sediment, reconstructing a rock-lined stream with rock pools and recreating the white-water canoe course.

RBC provided skilled operators and specialist plant to SCS for work in stream on Goolang Creek.

The works were completed in an environmentally sensitive environment and the Project was featured as a finalist in the NSW CCF 2014 Earth Awards for Excellence in Civil Construction.
